In Falling In Love With Her Husband, Kent Ashton was the villain… Or at least that is how Ann Statesman and Todd Brothers saw him. But was he really? Why did he really end his courtship with Ann? Was his scandalous behavior with Rebecca Johnson the reason he became engaged to her? And what compelled him to go after Ann after she married Todd and moved to North Dakota? This novella tells why he did what he did. And it paves the way for the book that will lead to his own happily ever after. Please note This is the prequel to Catching Kent. It does not have a “happily ever after” ending. The happily ever after comes in Catching Kent.

In Falling in Love with Her Husband, Kent Ashton is a villain. As villains go, he's no Hannibal Lecter, but still he is a most unlikable fellow, leaving the heroine of that book with nightmares for a long time after their last encounter. He'll be the hero in his own story, Catching Kent. I couldn't imagine how that would be possible,, but this book bridges the gap between the two stories. By the end of this story, I found him to be a sympathetic young man, naive, but with a loyal heart, manipulated by the true villain. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll leave it at that, but suffice it to say that this is simply the best example I've ever seen of turning a villain into a hero, and making it believable.Product details

I knew a lot of this story, or some of it, before I started reading. I had already read the story of Anne and Todd, it was a very good story. This is the story of Kent the man Anne thought she loved before she left town to go with Todd because she thought Kent was going to marry another woman. This leads up to the story of Anne and Todd. I recommend this story.
I am so glad to find out more about Kent. I always thought there was more to him then the pretty face Ann described in Falling in Love with her Husband. He was so manipulated by his father and made to feel helpless by his mother's 'grin and bear it' attitude! I am eagerly awaiting how Kent finds his happy ending. And as an added bonus, we get to enter the lives of the Larsons again! How I love Mary and Dave Larson's story (Eye of the Beholder)!
Nothing I'd read before in this series prepared me for the level of anger I had for some of the characters in this book. Or the level of under handedness or stupidity from others. I'm looking forward to reading more about Kent in the next book.
What a clever and creative way to bring the reader around to sympathize with the main character. I can't wait to read Kent's story and his happy ending.
Ruth Ann Nordin enlightens her readers on how manipulative people can be. It's cruel nature changed innocent lives. Good people stepped in to override that evil nature. It's a great struggle between good and evil and the importance of our choices we make.
Mind if slow and dry. Or maybe it's just not to my liking yet it could be to your liking. We all enjoy things differently. It's part of a series. I don't mind a series it I like it well enough to pay for additional books.
This short story is from a young man's POV. Manipulative parents demand Kent marry a wealthy woman so their lifestyle can be maintained. Kent and his father are constantly battling. His father advises Kent "if you want to marry for love, then choose a lady who happens to come from wealth. One lady is as good as another."
This is not a light read but does a excellent job of allowing the reader to feel and understand children being treated as a means to an end by parents.
I will not re-read this book but look forward to reading Catching Kent. (I hope we learn of his parents being destroyed both financially and in the social status they seek.)
Before reading this book I read the "teaser" and was somewhat concerned when it said not to expect a happy ending. (I don't read sad books! Life is too short.) But I dove into the book because I had no choice...I'm a sucker for sequels. However I didn't feel this was a sad ending, it just wasn't the "Happily Ever After" ending. That ending is in "Catching Kent."
I loved this book and "Catching Kent" they will be in my list of rereads for awhile. Ms. Nordin has done a masterful job of turning a villain into the hero. I only wish that one day he would have the chance to explain to Ann so she too could understand. I am an avid Ruth Ann Nordin fan and am looking forward to more books from her.
